Improving lives and protecting the things that matter most in our local communities.

From supporting a local little league to an annual chili cook-off benefiting a local children’s advocacy center in memory of a cherished co-worker, the enterprising people in our businesses take the company’s values to heart. Helping to improve lives and protect the things that matter most is a central tenet at Standard and its operating businesses.  These grassroots efforts, organized directly by our employees, illustrate how our people embody this ethos.

Inspired by the depth and range of homegrown efforts to give back to the communities where we live and work, GAF founded a Charitable Contribution Committee.

The Committee rallies teams to organize these efforts while seeking new initiatives and partnerships to
support.

The Committee comprises a cross-section of employees from various departments, ensuring that all voices from across the company are heard and that the committee considers a wide range of proposals. Charitable requests come directly from employees, and the committee reviews each initiative to determine if the organization shares the same objectives and values as GAF and its employees.

Represented by a cross-section of employees across the country, the committee’s initiatives reach communities all over North America.

In addition to local efforts, the Charitable Contributions Committee identifies national and global non-profit organizations that align with our company’s values like, Habitat for Humanity, the American Cancer Society, and the American Red Cross.

One of our community initiatives we are most proud of supports veterans, servicemen, and their families. To help our troops and their families, we donate materials and volunteer hours to a variety of veterans organizations, including the Gary Sinise Foundation’s R.I.S.E. program, which provides specially adapted smart homes for America's most severely wounded heroes and their families.

We also support historical restoration projects to help preserve our nation’s heritage. On the site of a historical World War II training camp in Toccoa, Georgia, we donated new roofs for the historic barracks during their restoration efforts.

The Committee rallies teams to organize these efforts while seeking new initiatives and partnerships to support.

These are  a small sampling of the initiatives our employees have helped support. The Charitable Contributions Committee looks forward to expanding its existing programs to support our employees as they identify new opportunities to effect meaningful, positive changes within their communities.
