Building stronger communities

OUR COMMITMENT TO COMMUNITY

Working in tandem with our operating companies, Standard supports programs and partnerships that have a positive impact on the communities where we live and work.

Investing in the Future

The GAF Roofing Academy is an innovative training program that enables prospective workers to build the necessary skills to begin a career in commercial, residential, and solar roofing. Since launch, the tuition-free national program has helped to train a diverse workforce including transitioning veterans, citizens re-entering the workforce and youth from under-resourced communities. Over the next five years, we anticipate training 2,000 new roofers and assisting them with pursuing job opportunities in the roofing sector.

Building Together

Standard and its operating companies have donated building materials and roofing and waterproofing products—totaling more than $2 million—to strengthen communities in need and help them rebuild after disasters. Through collaborations with leading nonprofits like Good360, Habitat for Humanity and Team Rubicon, we are committed to contributing the products and skills needed to help communities rebuild stronger.

Supporting Neighbors in Need

Many of our communities experienced increased food insecurity during the COVID-19 pandemic. To help address this need, GAF partnered with the Morris County Interfaith Food Pantry to convert the outdoor area of its Parsippany, N.J., headquarters into a free drive-through farmers’ market for neighbors in need last summer and fall. Over a six-month period, nearly 400 employee volunteers distributed over 100,000 pounds of fresh produce, benefiting 3,700 families.

Giving Back

Every fall, Standard hosts an annual Community Impact Day, where over 90% of our New York-based employees donate to organizations in our city. In addition, we organize volunteer days throughout the year for employees, with partners including Central Park Conservancy, City Harvest, Project Sunshine and Citizens Committee for New York City.

We support our employees as they give back to the communities where they live and work and to the institutions and organizations most important to them. Standard is proud to support this culture of service by making donations to eligible non-profit organizations where employees have a demonstrated commitment, either through volunteering, fundraising activities or board service.
