Standard Industries Appoints Josh Raffel Head of External Affairs
NEW YORK, N.Y. (November 15, 2022)—Standard Industries, a privately-held global industrial company operating in more than 80 countries with over 20,000 employees, named Josh Raffel Head of External Affairs, effective December 5, it was announced today by Standard Co-CEOs David Millstone and David Winter.
In the newly-created role, Raffel will oversee and expand three increasingly important parts of Standard’s external-facing strategy: External Communications, Brand Marketing and Government Affairs. He will also provide strategic support across all of Standard and its global operating companies, which include: GAF, the largest roofing manufacturer in North America; GAF Energy, a leader in solar roofing; Grace, a global leader in specialty chemicals; and BMI, the largest roofing and waterproofing company in Europe, with a strong presence in Asia and the Middle East.
“Josh will play a critical role in telling our story as we continue to push the bounds of what it means to be a modern global industrial business,” said Millstone.

Raffel brings years of experience from both the private and public sectors to Standard, having worked for start-ups, established companies and the White House. He most recently served as Chief Communications Officer at Juul Labs. Previously, he was a Deputy Communications Director in the White House, where he worked on issues ranging from Middle East policy to tax reform. Prior to the White House, Raffel was Head of Communications and Marketing at Blumhouse Productions, the film and television company behind Academy Award-winning movies like Get Out and Whiplash and Emmy Award-winning shows like The Jinx. He began his career advising a range of clients at Freud Communications and Hiltzik Strategies.
