David Millstone and Marjorie Garber on How Shakespeare Continues to Define Modern Culture

Standard Industries co-CEO David Millstone sat down with Shakespearean scholar, cultural critic and author Marjorie Garber for a discussion on Shakespeare’s works and why they continue to stay culturally relevant.

The New York Times calls Garber “one of the most powerful women in the academic world.” She has written, edited or co-edited more than 25 books, including Shakespeare After All, an engrossing study of his life and work. It was awarded the Christian Gauss Book Award from Phi Beta Kappa and Newsweek named it one of the five best nonfiction books of 2004, describing it as “an indispensable introduction to an indispensable writer… Garber’s is the most exhilarating seminar room you’ll ever enter.”
